Paper is usually made of wood, and the main components of natural wood are cellulose and lignin. However, lignin and some cellulose are easily oxidized. After the lignin is oxidized, we will see yellow or brown.

Of course, the yellowing of paper is also inseparable from the exposure of light, and the speed of paper yellowing under the sun will be accelerated. Some substances in the air will generate strong oxidants under the irradiation of ultraviolet rays, thereby oxidatively degrading cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin, and aging the paper.
