ISTA Packaging Testing

The International Safe Transport Association (ISTA) is an association of professionals and institutions. It is the authoritative organization for international packaging and transportation. Its ultimate goal is to make packaging reasonable and reduce product breakage rate. ISTA is committed to the development, design and cost-benefit evaluation of protective transport packaging. Series 1

Procedure 1A: Packaged product weighs 150 pounds (68 kg) or less

Requirements: laboratory environmental treatment, fixed frequency vibration, impact (drop / slope impact / horizontal impact) testing

Procedure 1B: The packaged product weighs more than 150 pounds (68 kg)

Requirements: laboratory environmental treatment, fixed frequency vibration, impact (drop / slope impact / horizontal impact) testing

Procedure 1C: Extended inspection of individual packaged products weighing 150 pounds (68 kg) or less

Requirements: laboratory environmental treatment, pressure, vibration (fixed frequency vibration / random vibration), impact (drop / slope impact / horizontal impact) detection

Procedure 1D: Extended inspection of individual packaged products weighing more than 150 pounds (68 kg)

Requirements: laboratory environmental treatment, pressure, vibration (fixed frequency vibration / random vibration), impact (drop / slope impact / horizontal impact) test, rotating edge drop

Procedure 1E: Group load

Requirements: laboratory environmental treatment, vibration (fixed frequency vibration / random vibration), impact (slope impact / horizontal impact), rotating edge drop

Procedure 1G: The weight of the packaged product is 150 pounds (68 kg) or less (arbitrary swing)

Procedure 2B: The packaged product weighs more than 150 pounds (68 kg)

Requirements: laboratory environmental treatment, temperature and humidity treatment, pressure, vibration (fixed frequency vibration, random vibration), impact (drop / ramp impact / horizontal impact), impact (rotation edge drop), vibration (fixed frequency vibration, random vibration) Detection

Procedure 2C: Extended inspection of individual packaged products weighing 150 pounds (68 kg) or less

Procedure 3A:

Requirements: Environment (optional), drop, stack random vibration, random vibration, impact (standard parts, small parts: drop; flat parts: rotating edge falling, rotating surface falling, dangerous object impact; extension: rotating edge falling, Rotating surface drop, bridge impact)

Procedure 3E:

Requirements: environment (optional), impact (slope impact / horizontal impact), rotating edge drop, pressure, random vibration, rotating edge drop
